In 2025, Spring of Things was given the task by a leading German automotive supplier to design an advanced presentational Human–Machine Interface (HMI) device*. The resulting concept dashboard was unveiled at CES Las Vegas 2026.

Inspiration

The design of the dashboard and the graphics on it were inspired by the shape and micro-patterns of a dragonfly’s wing.

The Solution

The device reimagines the automotive dashboard as a seamless, sculptural surface. At its core is a large, curved cover glass featuring a bespoke decorative layer. Beneath the glass, three high-resolution displays are optically bonded, creating the illusion of having one huge pillar-to-pillar display. When inactive, the displays remain completely hidden, creating a clean, distraction-free interior. When activated, information appears as if projected directly onto the dashboard surface, with no visible borders or breaks, achieving a truly integrated “hidden-until-lit” experience.
